Meet the Board
Please feel free to reach out to anyone on the Board with any questions, comments, or suggestions.
Andrew Freedman, President
I have lived in Wash West for over 30 years. The dog park is a valuable amenity to our neighborhood and a reason many people want to live here. The park is a special place in the community for dog owners to exercise their dogs and meet their neighbors. My goal for SPDOA is to grow the membership and partner with local businesses, while maintaining the park at a high level.
Mike Pavol, Vice President
Mike lives with his wife, son, their dog Ripley, three cats, and one fish that won't die in South Philadelphia. He is an artist, originally from Phoenix, AZ, studied architecture at Virginia Tech, and has lived in Philadelphia since 1987.
Lia Crocker, Secretary
Lia grew up in Bucks County and moved to Philadelphia after a 2 year stint in Japan post-college. Lia attended Villanova for her MBA and now resides in Center City with her fiance, Jay, and love of her life, Benjamin the vizsla. Benjamin is an energetic puppy who is either going 100 miles per hour, stalking birds, or snuggled up fast asleep. We head to Seger Park daily so Ben can get some zoomies out and Lia can catch up with friends.
Jay Persico, Events Chair
From the Scranton area, Jay attended Temple University and has stayed in Philadelphia ever since. Jay works in project management for a construction firm and when he is not working, he can be found throwing tennis balls for Benjamin the vizsla to fetch- though Ben would much prefer to stalk the birds. Jay takes Ben to the park almost daily and loves chatting with fellow dog owners and watching Benjamin sprint around the park with other dogs.
Stephanie Roberson, Treasurer
Stephanie recently moved from California to Philadelphia with her Weimaraner, Charlie, to take a position at the Kimmel Center. Stephanie has held other volunteer board positions in the past both as Treasurer with her local chapter of Surfrider (a nonprofit environmental organization) and as the Board chairman of the Promotional Coordinating Committee, an advisory body for the City of San Luis Obispo. When not working or spending time with Charlie, Stephanie spends her time training for triathlons and surfing.
Colleen O'Rourke, Membership
Colleen is a grad student at Jefferson and has been living in Philly for three years. She moved to Center City after completing her undergrad studies in medicine and computer science at Penn State. She doesn’t have a dog of her own yet, so she fills that void by walking & caring for many other dogs in the neighborhood. Seger Park is her favorite place to bring the dogs in her care, and she’s always eager to meet new friends (both canine & human) at the park.
